JF - Episteme Transversalis; v. 13 n. 3 (2022): ENGENHARIAS: Pesquisas e Projetos KW - N2 - O presente estudo teve como finalidade estudar os aspectos do ensino sobre a preservação das serpentes através da educação ambiental, de forma direta ou multidisciplinar ministrada por docentes da Educação Básica da área de Ciências e Biologia, notadamente dos Municípios de Volta Redonda e Barra Mansa, Região do Médio Paraíba, RJ. Com o objetivo de investigar a transmissão do conhecimento aos discentes, acerca da ecologia, diversidade e conservação de ofídios, procuramos identificar a metodologia de trabalho utilizada pelos docentes envolvendo a educação ambiental nos segmentos do Ensino Fundamental e do Ensino Médio. Foi utilizado um questionário on-line através do aplicativo de pesquisas Google Forms para a coleta de informações sobre a formação e experiência dos docentes. Além da temática dos ofídios nas aulas, o conhecimento prévio dos alunos sobre as serpentes e suas reações durante a exposição do conteúdo. Os resultados obtidos nesta pesquisa mostraram como a escola é o ambiente ideal para promover a conscientização sobre a importância das serpentes no meio ambiente e da necessidade de preservá-las. Elucidando a educação ambiental como um eficiente instrumento para a conservação e principalmente mudar a imagem negativa destes animais. Abstract The aim of this study was to analize the aspects of teaching about the preservation of snakes through environmental education, in a direct or multidisciplinary way, given by teachers of Basic Education in the area of Science and Biology, especially in the municipalities of Volta Redonda and Barra Mansa, Region of the Middle Paraíba, RJ. In order to investigate the transmission of knowledge to students about the ecology, diversity and conservation of snakes, we sought to identify the work methodology used by teachers involving environmental education in Elementary and High School segments. An online questionnaire was used through the Google Forms research application to collect information on the training and experience of teachers and on the subject of snakes in the classroom, the students' prior knowledge of snakes, and their reactions during the exhibition of the content. The results obtained in this research showed how the school is the ideal environment to raise awareness about the importance of snakes in the environment and the need to preserve them, and environmental education represents a very efficient instrument for conservation and especially for changing the negative image of these animals.
