Abstract

This article aims to conduct an integrative review of national academic productions that address social inequality and its impact on basic education. To this end, a study was carried out in the virtual libraries of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Google Scholar covering the period between 2020 and 2022. This is a qualitative study of a descriptive and exploratory nature based on 10 articles published in Brazil. The articles addressed in this study demonstrate that the relationship between education and the reproduction of inequalities in basic education are historical and mark the trajectory of Brazilian education with repercussions on the development of public policies. The essay concludes that to break the cycle of social inequalities, among many aspects, it is necessary to invest in a quality education with more inclusion and equity, since it is not enough for the student to access the school, he must be able to remain in the institution. . The implementation of a critical and transformative education is essential to mitigate the social inequalities reproduced and transmitted by the school.
